OWC Machine Installation Requirements: Site Readiness Checklist

Short answer

An OWC installation needs more than a floor patch. Before delivery, confirm machine footprint + service clearance, loading/unloading access, electrical provision, housekeeping/drainage, ventilation, material movement and curing space.

Ask about your site on WhatsApp

1. Machine position and service access

Use the exact supplied dimensions and mark the footprint physically if possible. Then add the manufacturer’s service/door-opening clearances and a safe operator path. Avoid trapping the machine against a wall simply because the body fits.

2. Delivery and movement route

Check gate width, ramp, floor loading, lift capacity where relevant, turns, doorways and the final approach. A delivery problem is much easier to fix on a drawing than with the machine waiting outside.

3. Electrical readiness

Use the published connected load as an early planning input, then confirm actual phase, cable, breaker/protection, earthing and isolator requirements from the supplied electrical documentation. Electrical work should be handled by competent personnel.

4. Housekeeping, wash and ventilation

Organic-waste areas need disciplined cleaning. Plan how spills are contained, how the floor is cleaned, where wash water goes and how the room is ventilated without sending odour toward occupied spaces.

5. Curing and output handling

Reserve space for the material after discharge. If curing bins, bags or trays are part of the workflow, show them on the site plan rather than trying to find space after commissioning.

A pre-dispatch site check prevents expensive surprises

Before dispatch, mark the exact machine position and walk the complete delivery route from vehicle unloading to final placement. Then verify electrical provision, service access, operator working space, ventilation, housekeeping and curing. A machine can fit the floor-plan rectangle and still be impossible to unload, service or operate comfortably.

  • Measure doorways, ramps, turns and lift limits where relevant.
  • Confirm electrical scope with the actual model data.
  • Reserve service-side clearance instead of boxing the machine in.
  • Mark curing and material-movement space on the same layout.

Installation planning starts at the unloading point, not at the machine footprint.

When the question becomes model-specific

This guide stays general. For exact figures on a particular machine, these published pages from the COMPOSTO range are the reference.
